Obwohl Blood Money sicher nicht das abgrundtief schlechte Kommerzmachwerk war, als welches es von vielen verbitterten ehemaligen Mobb-Fans dargestellt wird, kann man es wohl kaum als kreativen Zenit des Duos aus Queensbridge bezeichnen.
Dennoch liegt man kreuzfalsch, wenn man nun behauptet, dass Mobb Deep ihre Seele und ihr Talent irgendwo auf dem Weg zum G-Unit-Hauptquartier liegengelassen haben. Bei aufmerksamer Sichtung des Mixtape-Outputs ihrer jüngeren Vergangenheit stösst man auf eine ganze Reihe überdurchschnittlicher Tracks, die durchaus die Fahne des düsteren, apokalyptischen 90er-Sounds hochhalten, mit dem Havoc und Prodigy einstmals die Strassen der Grossstädte eroberten.
Trife Life hat sich die Mühe gemacht, die besten dieser Beweisstücke zusammenzustellen, um alle, die Mobb Deep längst abgeschrieben hatten, eines Besseren zu überzeugen.

PROPS for postin Bloodier Money on eskays site. Its a nice compilation. Alot of the tracks I haven’t listened to in a minute and at first I was thinkin damn I slept on this shit then I remembered why I stopped listening in the first place. Like on “Blood Money” the production is tight and Hav comes on with a really nice verse but then the chorus kills it for me (50 or even Banks could have sung the chorus if it was really that necessary lol)
But I like Hav’s verse on it so it was good to hear again…
And honestly I slept on Capital P’s verse on Capital P. Good shit! No room for Pearly Gates? if that wasn’t on Blood Money I wouldn’t have defended the album as much as I did. Even if u dont like P’s verse u gotta like “the pulp fiction but have been Gods divine intervine”

i can’t wrap my head around the fact that they didnt put a time to kill on blood money,
^they could have used the lyrics but they couldn’t recycle that Road to Zion beat and that beat definately makes Time to Kill even nicer! Hopefully P will spit those lyrics on something else but it wont be the same

Gute Idee. Auch wenn “Blood Money” entgegen der allgemeinen Ansicht ein ziemlich starkes Album war und ein Cut wie “In Love With The Moula” so ziemlich alles von diesem Mixtape-Material wegfegt – es bleibt eine nette Zusammenstellung.
Und jetzt bitte freuen auf: Prodigy & Alchemist “Return Of The Mac”.
